The core challenge was the technical complexity of working with massive,high-resolution 3D maps. Processing this data to preserve crucial terrestrial details—from elevation changes to urban landscapes—while maintaining smooth performance for a broadcast-quality animation, required specialized expertise and robust computational power. This level of large-scale 3D terrain visualization is a niche capability, placing this project among the most advanced in the field and a significant leap beyond the previous 2D format.
We were entrusted with revolutionizing the visual presentation of the official Tour of Romania cycling race for its 2025 edition.Our mission was to replace the previous simple 2D animations with a fully immersive, cinematic 3D visualization package for all five race stages, elevating the entire production to meet the standards of Europe’s premier cycling events.
We engineered a sophisticated 3D mapping solution,utilizing large-scale, highly detailed 3D terrain data. This allowed us to create accurate and dynamic virtual replicas of each stage’s route. By adding atmospheric elements, realistic lighting, and a premium cinematic vibe, we transformed the race viewing experience from a simple top-down map into an engaging, story-driven flight over the actual landscape.
