The key creative challenge was to bridge the gap between a physical studio space and the epic, open-world feel of Shurima. We needed to design a virtual environment that felt expansive and authentic to the game’s fans, while logically connecting to the physical props and talent on set. The solution required meticulous compositing and lighting matching to ensure the physical props and the digital environment felt like one cohesive space, avoiding a disjointed or unrealistic look for the viewers.
This project involved the design and creation of a fully realized 3D virtual studio for the Romanian edition of the Red Bull SoloQ 1v1 League of Legends championship. Commissioned by Red Bull and produced in collaboration with the well-known local production team, Nexus Gaming, our studio was tasked with bringing the iconic Shuriman desert kingdom to life for the national esports broadcast.
Our creative process began with an in-depth analysis of the Shuriman environment within the League of Legends universe. We focused on capturing its core aesthetic: ancient, sun-bleached ruins, grand architectural scales, and a palette of sandstone and gold. The final render was designed as a virtual stage, giving the illusion of a physical studio hall filled with thematic props. This approach ensured a visually spectacular and completely cohesive Shuriman-themed broadcast that maintained a professional, studio-based feel
